BizClim relaunched
The second phase of BizClim - BizClim II - commenced operations on August 1st, 2010. The rationale for launching BizClim II is rooted in agreed upon policies and strategies where the creation of an enabling business environment is important. The cooperation framework between the European Union and ACP countries is evolving. It’s safe to say the ‘partnership’ is gradually taking hold in the political discourse and the role of the private sector in development is recognized.
Under BizClim I, strides have been made in establishing good relationships with key stakeholders and proving the effectiveness of certain approaches to cooperation and delivery of assistance. We believe that the TORs of BizClim II consolidate the mandate of the facility and formally recognize trends that are completely in line of the EC new policies, notably in terms of empowering regional organizations. Indeed, BizClim II emphases cooperation with regional organisations, ‘rapprochement’ with the EU-Africa Partnerships and support to EU-ACP Business Fora.
Undoubtedly, we will take account of recommendations that the final evaluation of BizClim will put forward. Many lessons have already been drawn from past experience. However, our determination to make BizClim a success will continue unabated. We have lined up the team that have implemented BizClim I and we are committed to provide them with all necessary backstopping to facilitate their work and enable them to concentrate on providing the best services possible.
We are committed to support the PMU in its drive for being an embodiment of a high degree of professionalism and quality service. We will consolidate and improve the tools that have already been developed under the first phase. A testimony to our quest for efficiency is the planned use of tools, such as the web-based enhance Project Management System. The PMU will therefore be able to concentrate on its core business and improve its capabilities to better serve its key stakeholders.
