An ECOWAS Investment Guarantee AgencyThe ECOWAS Region, with the support of the ACP Business Climate Facility (BizClim), will be hosting a 2-day validation workshop on a feasibility study aiming at establishing an ECOWAS Investment Guarantee/ Reinsurance Agency in this region. The workshop will be held in Abuja, Nigeria on 16th and 17th of May, 2012 and will bring together key stakeholders, including ministries of trade and investment from the ECOWAS Member States and executives from the insurance and reinsurance sector with the objective of discussing the main findings, conclusions and implications of the mid-term report on the feasibility study. EU-Pacific business forum proposed at ACP BizClim high level conferencePORT VILA, Vanuatu, 31 January 2012/ BizClim/ Vanuatu Daily Post – The Government of Vanuatu has echoed a key recommendation to hold a special forum between EU and Pacific representatives to discuss how to foster business and investment between the two regions. The proposal was made at a regional conference organised by the ACP Business Climate Facility Program (BizClim) in the Vanuatu capital of Port Vila last week. High level officials and business leaders from around the Pacific discussed the business environment in their respective countries, ongoing reforms and actions that need to be taken to make the Pacific region business and investor friendlier. Improving Business Climate in the COMESA regionThe COMESA Secretariat, with the support of the ACP Business Climate Facility (BizClim), will host a 3-day workshop from 9 to 11 May, 2012 in Harare, Zimbabwe aiming at implementing the COMESA Roadmap for the improvement of the business environment in the region. This will be done through national consultations with key stakeholders, setting up a country self-assessment tool and monitoring mechanisms , and further assist the countries in the formulation of the roadmap on policy and institutional reforms. This three-day workshop will bring together key stakeholders, including 50 Government senior officials, representatives of national Business associations, and investment promotion officers.
