A familiarisation workshop on the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Carriage of Goods Wholly or Partly by Sea, commonly referred to as the “Rotterdam Rules”, took place in Mauritius from the 8-10 November 2011. Some of the world’s leading authorities on the maritime carriage of goods delivered instructional training and helped public and private sector stakeholders in Mauritius to determine the way forward. Going forward, Mauritius is likely to establish a working party, conduct comprehensive consultations and a thorough legal study as inputs to their ongoing process of continuously striving to improve their maritime trade.
